Gigi Hadid Slams Body Shamers For Calling Her 'Too Skinny' At NYFW

Gigi Hadid is having a busy week strutting the catwalks for New York Fashion Week, including showcases for Prabal Gurung and Brandon Maxwell, but the model will not have any critiques from body shamers over her appearance, as per new messages from the 22-year-old on Twitter.

On Sunday (February 11), Hadid came forward to silence the haters in a series of messages about the criticism that she's received for being "too skinny." "For those of you so determined to come up w why my body has changed over the years, you may not know that when I started @ 17 I was not yet diagnosed w/Hashimoto’s disease," she tweeted. "Those of u who called me 'too big for the industry' were seeing inflammation & water retention due to that."

"Over the last few years I’ve been properly medicated to help symptoms including those, as well as extreme fatigue, metabolism issues, body’s ability to retain heat, etc," she said in a follow-up tweet, admitting that a holistic medical trial "helped my thyroid levels balance out."

Hadid went on to reveal that she may be "too skinny" for folks, but she feels healthier internally and is still learning about the growth of her body. "I will not further explain the way my body looks, just as anyone, with a body type that doesnt suit ur 'beauty' expectation, shouldnt have to. Not to judge others, but drugs are not my thing, stop putting me in that box just because u dont understand the way my body has matured," she continued.
