Bobby Pulido Joined By Father Roberto Pulido for Emotional Farewell Tour

After nearly 30 years of shaping the Tejano music landscape, Latin Grammy-winning artist Bobby Pulido is preparing to take his final bow — but he’s not doing it alone. In a moment that feels like destiny coming full circle, Bobby will share the stage with his legendary father, Roberto Pulido, for a farewell tour that’s as much about family as it is about music.

The Por La Puerta Grande Tour 2025 — named after the symbolic phrase meaning “through the big door” — will make a heartfelt stop in San Antonio on Friday, April 25, at the Boeing Center at Tech Port. For both Pulidos, this tour marks a goodbye to the stage, a rare and powerful dual exit that pays tribute to their bond and their shared musical journey.

“I consider myself the luckiest man alive to be able to go out with my dad,” Bobby shared in an emotional interview with Spectrum News. “It’s pretty special, because it takes me back… I was that kid sitting behind the drummer, watching my dad play and seeing how people reacted to him. I’m blessed — that’s all I can say.”

That child watching from behind the drums would one day grow into a Tejano trailblazer in his own right. Growing up in Edinburg, Texas, Bobby saw the highs and sacrifices of life on the road. His gratitude for both the fans and his father runs deep. “Thank you so much for supporting my dad,” he said. “Because of that support, he was able to put me through college and provide for our whole family. We couldn’t have done it without the people.”

Though Roberto Pulido was a household name, Bobby’s childhood remained grounded thanks to his mother’s firm hand. Still, his summers were filled with backstage views of his father’s performances — memories that would later guide his own path into music.

Bobby’s career truly began with a spontaneous duet. “That song, ‘Contigo,’ wasn’t supposed to be heard by anyone,” he recalled. But it resonated so strongly that it led to a record deal and the release of his debut album Desvelado in 1995 — a pivotal moment for Tejano music in the wake of Selena’s tragic death and Emilio Navaira’s genre shift. Bobby’s fresh energy and modern touch helped revive the scene and carried Tejano music to new audiences, even across international borders.

“I really thought the industry was going to stay the same… and it didn’t,” he admitted. But his journey was never about fame. “I just wanted to make good music, be able to perform, and make a living.”

Now, as he prepares to step away from music and possibly enter the political world, Bobby leaves behind a legacy that’s both personal and cultural — one that speaks of authenticity, resilience, and pride in his heritage. He plans to release his final album in May, Bobby Pulido & Friends – Una Tuya y Una Mía, a double live album packed with star-studded collaborations recorded during a special series of concerts in Monterrey, Mexico.

The San Antonio stop on April 25 isn’t just another concert — it’s a generational passing of the torch and a celebration of a musical dynasty. Fans will witness father and son, two icons of Tejano music, take their final bows together — just as Bobby began: by his father’s side.

Por La Puerta Grande Tour 2025 is more than a farewell. It’s a tribute to where it all started, and a beautiful reminder that sometimes the end brings us right back to the beginning. The farewell tour will also include dates across the U.S. and Mexico with a major stop at Mexico City’s iconic Auditorio Nacional on August 9.
