After a four-year hiatus from the music scene, rising Tejano star Hailyn Bella is back—louder, prouder, and more determined than ever. The singer has officially premiered the music video for her infectious new cumbia single, “Lavándome,” a song that’s more than just a beat—it’s a testament to resilience, healing, and reclaiming joy
The last few years haven’t been easy for Bella, who stepped away from the spotlight following the devastating loss of her father, Salvador Bella, to COVID-19 complications in August 2021. “Lavándome” marks her triumphant return—a danceable cumbia anthem that celebrates moving on and washing away what no longer serves you.
“I wanted to start with a cumbia and remind people that when good music plays, you have to move your body!” Bella shared with Tejano Nation. “It’s pretty hard to be miserable while listening to this one. Sprinkle in a little Spanglish, hype lyrics, and make it fun—a jam you can share with the whole family.”
Teaming up with The Klubjumpers—the powerhouse San Antonio-based production duo behind over 80 Billboard charting songs and multiple Gold and Platinum Records—Bella says she’s finally surrounded by the right team to bring her musical dreams to life. “This is what I always dreamed about,” she said. “What I always wanted was to be an artist full time. And I’m really giving my all—focusing on it and being a role model. Like, hey, if you just keep going, you’re eventually going to get there. Just don’t give up, no matter how crazy it looks.”
The music video, directed by Vision Partners Media duo Dylan Shively and Theano Shively, was filmed at Tio’s Ranch in Bella’s hometown of Laredo, Texas. The setting adds an authentic Tejano flavor, perfectly complementing the song’s celebration of family, culture, and the joy of simply letting loose.
“Paso las noches lavándome… el corazón y la cara también,” Bella sings—a reminder that sometimes, cleansing isn’t just about the physical, but about letting go of drama, heartbreak, and bad energy. “Lavándome” is her anthem for anyone who’s been through it but chose to dance through the pain.
Bella imagines her tías requesting “la de Lavándome,” making it the perfect flirty anthem for a Saturday morning cleaning session or a carne asada dance-off. “That was my goal,” she said. “To write something that brings people together, uplifts anyone going through it, and delivers a catchy hook that celebrates being clean. It can even be flirty with your lover, like lavándolo contra la pared, lol.”
A flirty, empowering cumbia to cleanse your soul and move your feet—“Lavándome” is more than a comeback; it’s a celebration of life, family, and the healing power of music.
