Tejano pop star Jennifer Peña has fans buzzing after releasing a teaser for the highly anticipated music video of her latest single, “Wakala.” The brief behind-the-scenes clip, shared on social media, features Peña on set, smiling and energized as she addresses fans directly:

“We’re having a lot of fun here, and you’ll see it soon,” Peña said in Spanish.

Set to premiere on July 10, 2025, the full video promises to match the fiery spirit of the song — a cumbia pop powerhouse that fuses infectious rhythm, biting lyrics, and unapologetic attitude. With “Wakala,” Peña delivers an anthem for those ready to let go of heartbreak, reclaim their power, and have some fun doing it.

Co-written with Tejano music legend Pete Astudillo, “Wakala” doesn’t hold back. Lines like “Eres un engreído, aburrido, un fracaso en mi camino” and “Ya me contaron mis amigas, con todas andas coqueteando y yo en la casa limpiando”channel betrayal into bold liberation.

“Wakala isn’t just a word, it’s a reaction,” Peña explains. “It’s when you decide not to put up with it anymore and choose to laugh as you move forward.”

The song reflects a bold new chapter for the multi-platinum artist, whose signature fusion of Tejano, cumbia, and Latin pop has captivated audiences for over two decades. Peña continues to evolve artistically, with recent releases like “Fuerte” (2023) and her 2025 collaboration with Los Inquietos del Vallenato, “Nunca Niegues Que Te Amo,” proving she’s still full of surprises. Earlier this year, Peña also inked a distribution deal with Symphonic Latino, expanding her reach in the digital era.

From her breakout albums Libre and Seducción to her chart-topping legacy, Jennifer Peña has always connected deeply with fans. With “Wakala,” she invites them once again to dance through life’s setbacks — with strength, sass, and a smile.

“Wakala” is available now on all digital platforms. The official music video premieres July 10, 2025.
