Tejano music legend Shelly Lares, affectionately known as “Little Miss Dynamite,” has announced a special benefit concert to support victims of the devastating floods that swept through Central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend. The concert is set for Friday, July 18, at the historic Woodlawn Theater in San Antonio, with all proceeds going toward relief efforts for Kerr County and surrounding areas affected by the natural disaster.
Lares made the heartfelt announcement on social media, expressing her deep concern for the communities impacted by the floods. “Our community is in need, y’all, in desperate need,” she said in the emotional video. “So I, along with some of my friends, are throwing a concert relief [event] July 18th at the Woodlawn Theater here in San Antonio, Texas.”
The Tejano icon shared that she and her band will be performing and donating their time, and she has already been overwhelmed with messages from fellow artists and industry supporters eager to contribute. “Radio stations, friends, musicians, artists—we’re putting this together,” she said. “I just did a brief announcement and now I’m getting inundated with people who want to help, and we appreciate that.”
Thanks to the generosity of the Woodlawn Theater team, the venue is also being donated for the cause.
Lares emphasized that more details will be shared soon, including information on how fans can donate—even if they’re unable to attend the concert in person. “If you’re not from San Antonio, that’s okay too,” she added. “We’re going to let you know [how to help]—monetary or necessities—we’re going to be sharing that with you.”
The Tejano star concluded her message with a heartfelt prayer for those impacted. “God be with everyone that is trying to help… This is our community. These are people. We are human beings, and we need to be there to help in any way that we can.”
