Tejano music legend Selena Quintanilla-Pérez continues to make history, even 30 years after her passing. The newly released Dreaming of You: 30th Anniversary Edition soared to the top of the iTunes Latin Albums Chart just one day after its official release on July 18, 2025. The news was shared on Selena’s official social media accounts with a heartfelt message:
“30 years ago fans made it #1. Three decades later, fans did it again! Dreaming Of You, The 30th Anniversary Edition, reached #1 on iTunes’ Latin Charts! Thank you to all of Selena’s loyal fans in making this possible.”
The announcement was reposted and celebrated by Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, and her widower, Chris Pérez, highlighting the enduring love and support from fans around the world.
Originally released in 1995 just months after Selena’s tragic death, Dreaming of You made history by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — the first time a predominantly Spanish-language album claimed the top spot on the all-genre chart. The groundbreaking album blended English-language crossover tracks like “I Could Fall in Love” and “Dreaming of You” with beloved Spanish-language classics such as “Amor Prohibido,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and “Como La Flor.”
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the commemorative edition features fully remastered and remixed tracks, offering fans a richer and more polished listening experience. The upgraded sound was crafted by a world-class production team, including Robert Gomez III, Serban Ghenea, Gustavo Celis, Happy Perez, and Brian “RED” Moore, with final mastering by Grammy-winning engineer Randy Merrill. Selena’s siblings Suzette Quintanilla and A.B. Quintanilla III oversaw the emotional and meticulous remastering process.
Suzette reflected on the journey during a recent SiriusXM townhall interview. “When Dreaming of You came out, I didn’t care. I was too much lost in my grief,” she shared. “And then I learned to love it and to understand what it represents… It hurt for a very long time to be able to listen to this album. But as time went by, I understood. I embraced that this is what Sister left behind.”
She added, “It’s so crisp and so clean… Oh my God — so night and day,” when comparing the remastered version to the original. “I worked extremely hard… to honor this last album that Sister did and left us. It’s super special to me.”
