HOUSTON, TX — Tejano singer and rising star Demmi Garcia has announced she is expecting her first child with fellow Tejano musician Jesus “JayMar” Martinez, drummer for Patsy Torres. The couple shared the exciting news through a touching social media post that has fans and fellow musicians celebrating with joy. This is Demmi’s second child, she is mom to a 10-year-old daughter.
The announcement came with a sentimental photo capturing a scene in a cozy music room. A piano bench was adorned with a framed photo of the glowing parents-to-be, a sonogram image, a tiny baby onesie reading “Baby Martinez,” soft baby booties, and a sign that read “Future Musician arrives April 2026.” Garcia captioned the post with her signature musical flair:
“A little nugget is getting mixed and mastered right now! We’re so excited and feel so so blessed. Estimated release date is April 2026.”
JayMar Martinez echoed the excitement in his own post, writing:
“This is honestly the happiest I’ve been in my life. The news that my love Demmi Garcia & I are expecting a beautiful blessing coming soon April 2026.”
Known affectionately as “Tejano’s Sweetheart” for her warm vocals and endearing personality, Garcia first captured hearts in 2021 and 2022 through her breakout moment with the Tejano Music Award-winning collaboration “Nada De Ti” alongside Shelly Lares, Monica Saldivar, and Sonja De La Paz. She continued to make waves with the romantic “Con Tu Amor” featuring David Lee Garza and her playful, whimsical cumbia “Mariposas.”
In 2023, Garcia revealed a more emotional side with the release of “Te Extraño,” a heartfelt cumbia tribute to her late boyfriend, musician Monico Cortez III, who passed unexpectedly in October 2022. The song, co-written with her father and longtime musical director Michael Garcia, showcased her strength and vulnerability.
Demmi Garcia’s musical roots run deep—she comes from a proud Tejano lineage and is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter who has charted her own path despite personal challenges. Diagnosed as a teen with gastroparesis, a chronic digestive condition, Garcia has never let it hold her back from pursuing her dreams. Her perseverance and talent earned her the 2021 Guadalupe Award for Most Promising Female Entertainer of the Year.
As she embarks on this new chapter of motherhood with JayMar Martinez, Garcia’s future looks brighter than ever—both on and off the stage. Congratulations to the happy couple on their growing family and their “future musician” on the way!
