We've heard of drug sniffing dogs, but the latest COVID-19 sniffing dogs? Seems a little unbelievable.... but it's true!
It looks like researchers in England and the U.S are training canines to detect COVID-19
To pick it up, if the scent exists, canines can be trained in laboratory settings by running through a series of smell tests involving a positive COVID-19 sample, experts say.
"The aim is that dogs will be able to screen anyone, including those who are asymptomatic,"
Says Claire Guest, CEO of Medical Detection Dogs.
"If you find this notion to be far-fetched, it's worth remembering that dogs have been trained to detect a plethora of medical conditions, including malaria and certain forms of cancer."
