Rising Tejano and Latin pop sensation Amanda Solis has premiered the official music video for her latest single, “Cumbia!”, from her debut album Space Vaquera. The Houston-based artist continues to blend tradition with innovation, delivering a sound that’s both fresh and nostalgic.
“Blending my Latin roots with bold pop and electronic sounds, ‘Cumbia!’ is all about bringing the rhythm to life and celebrating our culture with a modern twist,” Amanda shared.
The video’s concept came from an unexpected source of inspiration. “I was decluttering for the holidays and I found an old VHS from the 80s, so I put it into my tío’s VCR and to my surprise, look what we found,” Amanda revealed with a laugh.
The fun and vibrant video opens with the VHS tape being played, kicking off a “throwback” fictional episode of “Tio Cochino TV Chow.” The retro-themed clip features an interview with “El Tio Cochino” and a lively performance of “Cumbia!” with The Space Vaqueros, complete with vintage filters, bright colors, and playful 80s energy. Reminiscent of the public access shows of the 80s.
Inspired by Houston’s dynamic music scene and the rich heritage of cumbia, Amanda infuses her version with infectious grooves, percussive rhythms, and DJ-style production. The track bridges eras, paying homage to the genre’s timeless spirit while pushing it into the future.
“Y’all… we laughed and had so much fun filming this one!” Amanda said. “From the beats to the energy, this song captures my love for cumbia and the Houston vibe that raised me.”
Amanda Solis, who began her career as a celebrated Selena tribute artist, continues to carve out her own lane in the Tejano and Latin pop landscape. With “Cumbia!” she reaffirms her mission to honor tradition while redefining what modern Tejano music can sound—and look—like.
