Crystal Torres always envisioned herself in Tejano music. Growing up on a steady diet of Tejano greats like Ruben Ramos, Sunny Ozuna, and Little Joe, while idolizing the talents of Shelly Lares and the incomparable Selena, she was deeply inspired to pursue her own musical path. Teaching herself to sing, she refined her voice and artistry — a journey that led her far from her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, to the Tejano music capital of San Antonio, Texas.
After completing her graduate education, Torres made the move to San Antonio in late 2009 with nothing but determination and a dream. She soon connected with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Gilbert Velasquez, and together they created her debut album, Corazón de Crystal, an unapologetically Tejano project released in early 2013.
The record’s success helped Crystal earn Best New Female Artist at the 2014 Tejano Music Awards, solidifying her place as one of the most promising and passionate voices in modern Tejano music.
