The legacy of Freddy Fender—the unmistakable voice behind some of the most defining hits in Tex-Mex Country—continues to shine as the Freddy Fender Estate and MCA (Universal Music Publishing Group Nashville) announce a major milestone. In honor of the album’s 50th anniversary, Fender’s celebrated 1975 project Are You Ready for Freddy will make its long-awaited streaming debut on Friday, December 12, 2025. The newly remastered edition marks the first time the album will be available worldwide on digital platforms.

Released in 1975 as the follow-up to Fender’s groundbreaking crossover album Before the Next Teardrop FallsAre You Ready for Freddy further cemented his status as a genre-blending trailblazer. Now, five decades later, fans old and new will finally have access to the album in its highest-quality digital form.

Evangeline Huerta, Fender’s wife and Head of the Estate, expressed the excitement behind the project. “Freddy is a legend in Country music, and bringing many of his records back to streaming for his fans to enjoy and treasure is important to us,” she shared. “We hope that fans will join us in enjoying his music once more, as we have so much in store.”

The release represents the first step in a series of upcoming collaborations aimed at preserving and expanding Freddy Fender’s musical footprint. The Estate and MCA promise more celebrations, partnerships, and archival projects designed to highlight Fender’s enduring influence on Country and Tex-Mex music.

To mark the momentous anniversary, the Estate will host a hometown listening party in San Benito, Texas—celebrating the cultural legacy and timeless sound of one of Texas music’s most beloved icons.
