Jennifer Peña has released an acoustic version of “Atada,” one of the most emotionally charged tracks from her chart-topping comeback album Superación. The stripped-down rendition, shared today in a new video, highlights Peña’s soaring vocals and the profound sincerity behind one of her most heartfelt songs to date.
“Atada” has quickly emerged as a fan favorite—not just for its beautiful melody, but for the truth it carries. More than a song, it’s Jennifer Peña today: an honest reflection of love, emotional connection, and lived experiences fused with her signature artistry. The track was written by Peña alongside Tejano icon Shelly Lares and José Rosario, blending Peña’s personal journey with masterful songwriting. Lares also co-produced the single with Mando Aussenac.
In the video released with the acoustic version, Peña opened up about the inspiration behind the track’s creation. “The idea of Atada was, of course, to write a song about love—deep love,” she said. “I wanted to write about the bond or being attached. It can be translated different ways from ‘tied,’ which is the direct translation, but I took it more like bonded or attached to somebody. I had a little bit of a chorus written with a melody, and when my writing session with Shelly came to be, she presented a different production for another song. I thought, ‘I have this idea for Atada, I really want to work on Atada today,’ and maybe I could manipulate the melody to match her chord progression. We expanded the lyrics, finished the song, and later Mando and I reworked the production—and we came out with this.”
