Tejano music veteran Rick Balderrama is back with fresh music and a renewed creative spark. The musician and singer has officially released his latest single, “Que Buena Está,” the first offering from his upcoming eighth studio album.

In a recent social media video, Balderrama shared his excitement directly with fans.

“I just wanted to jump on real quick and let everybody know that my first single off my eighth album, is available on all, all digital platforms,” he said.

The new track showcases Balderrama’s signature blend of tradition and modern polish, a sound he has carefully cultivated throughout his career. Produced by Severo “Sevy” Contreras at Slackmonster Studios in San Antonio, “Que Buena Está” delivers rich instrumentation and polished arrangements that honor Tejano roots while pushing the genre forward.

Balderrama also gave a special shout-out to Lawrence “NDO” Casarez, who filmed and produced the upcoming music video for the single.

“Got a video coming out here pretty soon, guys. Actually done already, but I’m not going to… I’m gonna leave it right there,” Balderrama teased. “Hopefully within two or three weeks we’ll have it released. I think the video is going to be a little surprising. I’m very happy with it.”

Casarez praised both the song and the artist behind it.

“Awesome song from an even more awesome person. The horns are sublime as the harmonies are just lovely. Rick Balderrama puts out another masterclass in music with this gem. Its modernized classic feel makes you want to dance or just sit and enjoy your favorite person’s company.”

The single marks another milestone in a career deeply rooted in Tejano history. Balderrama is the son of late Tejano Music Hall of Famer Henry Balderrama and continues to carry forward his family’s musical legacy. He is also the brother of musician Ricardo “Richie” Balderrama. In a powerful testament to their bond, Rick once served as a liver donor to Richie during his nine-year battle with liver cancer.

Now nearing completion of his eighth album, Balderrama says the creative process continues to challenge and inspire him.

“Every album that you record… you record the next one and it’s like, man, how am I going to outdo the one I did before? It’s something that makes you think. But little by little, you just grind, you sit there and do the best that you can, and it will happen.”

With the album expected to be finished within the next month to month and a half, Balderrama promises “a lot of neat stuff” including special guest collaborations and standout musicianship that fans have come to expect.

For now, listeners can stream “Que Buena Está” on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and all digital platforms — and stay tuned for what promises to be a surprising new video release in the coming weeks.

As Rick Balderrama continues to evolve while honoring the legacy that shaped him, “Que Buena Está” stands as both a celebration of tradition and a bold step into his next musical chapter.
