Rising Tejano star Melo Hernandez is making waves with a heartfelt and vibrant new single, “En Mi Pancita” — a cumbia cover of a classic originally recorded by Los Payasonicos in 2004. While many may remember the original, it was a modern TikTok rendition by Los Cazadores Del Cerro that first caught Hernandez’s attention.

“I fell in love with their Norteño Sax ranchera version and wanted to know if it was an original,” Hernandez shared.

The decision to record the track came during a car ride with producer and close friend Miguel Hernandez. “We were talking about what’s next for me musically, and I showed him this tune. We both agreed this should be my next single.”

The single also marks a new chapter for Hernandez, diving into cumbia for the very first time. “It’s different not just because of the style, but because of the vibe it gives off,” they said. “To me, it radiates joy, happiness, and an overall satisfying feeling you want and crave from music. I’m beyond excited and proud of this song.”

The recording brought together some of Tejano’s top musicians — Eddie Perez Jr. (La Calma), Lalo Morales (5to Vuelo), Jorge Torres (Siggno), Anthony Perez (Siggno), and Miguel Hernandez (Artist/RAW ELEMENTS). Each recorded their parts remotely, yet delivered seamlessly. “They are some of the most professional musicians you could ever work with. Truly an honor,” Hernandez said.

Looking ahead, Melo is focused on completing ann upcoming EP, with preparations already underway and the tracklist finalized. While the release date has yet to be announced, fans are eagerly awaiting what promises to be a vibrant addition to the Tejano music scene.
